Brief synopsis

One night in June 1987, while Buenos Aires is sleeping, a gang of criminals gives a strike that will go down in history. After entering the basement of a crypt in the Chacarita Cemetery, they mutilate the body of Juan Domingo Perón and flee with the hands of the ex-president. A few days later, in a letter they sign with the code name "Hermes Iai and the 13", the thieves demand eight million dollars to return them.
The months preceding this desecration are among the most turbulent in recent Argentine history. After a period of stability known as "the democratic spring", Raúl Alfonsín's government is moving along the coast. Peronist syndicalism is mobilising crowds to demand better wages on the streets. Almost every day, somewhere in the city, explosives blow up. When a military regiment rises, television broadcasts live images of tanks and soldiers with painted faces defying the democratic system.
Perón's body, like that of his wife, Evita, becomes the scene of violent political struggle. The clues mention former Montonero guerrillas and Triple A torturers. There are suspects within Peronism and also within the government. Spies, ex-prisoners and even a psychic offer information on the whereabouts of the hands. When Judge Jaime Far Suau is assigned the case, he cannot imagine that the investigation will lead him to trace connections with Nazi gold, vaults that are opened with fingerprints and a possible vendetta ordered by the Italian Freemasonry. Even less can Far Suau intuit that the investigation into the theft of the hands will cost him his life just a few months later. Peron's hands never appeared. Neither did those responsible for executing and covering up the theft. Thirty years later, this investigation seeks to break that long pact of silence.
