Poverty in industrial nations is growing. In major German cities, homelessness has long been part of the urban landscape. And elsewhere? Thilo Mischke travels to L.A. to the most notorious homeless quarter in the USA, talks to residents and helpers. Here, poverty is visible, colourful and sometimes dangerous. In performance-driven Japan, on the other hand, homeless people are considered "the invisible ones" and are preferably erased from the scene. In Tokyo, Thilo goes in search of them.
