Trolls in the mountains, trolls in us. Trolls have accompanied mankind in myths and histories, depending on people’s understanding of these “beings” each time. Trolls are part of Icelandic culture. They appear in written stories, law books, and oral heritage.
Historically, trolls have stood for people outside society and are, therefore, dangerous. Or, they refer to people within society who behave antisocially. Trolls also symbolise threats haunting us that are often beyond our understanding.
