For decades, the father lies to Jack, the son who emigrated with him to Haiti, that his mother had abandoned him. For years he keeps his father's urn in the boot of his car for years, because he cannot part with it, the last "link" to his family.
On a long overdue trip to Eibenstock in the Ore Mountains with the film crew Jack (working as a glass blower in Tampa) learns that many things were not at all like what he was told. The lies are exposed, letters from his mother had been embezzled, and "Daddy" even withheld money that his mother had sent him.
