    Brief synopsis

    The Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT) across the Alps is considered the largest European infrastructure project. At 65 km, it will be the longest rail tunnel in the world and is intended to prevent traffic gridlock at the Brenner Pass by shifting freight traffic from the highway to the railroads. However, the huge construction project is not only supported by local residents in Austria and Italy.
