Brief synopsis

Energy crisis, climate crisis, inflation - the background noise of bad news is getting louder and louder - the mood in the country is getting worse and worse. Politicians are at loggerheads, society is divided, people lack confidence. Where exactly does the shoe pinch? How do Germans view politics and what role do our feelings play in assessing the decisions of the traffic lights?

Phoenix reporter David Damschen talks to Stefan Grünewald from the rheingold Institute. His team uses in-depth psychological interviews to find out how Germans feel. The More-in-Common organization is also trying to do the same, focusing in particular on what we have in common. DIW President Marcel Fratzscher explains our relationship with the economy and Kerstin Maria Pahl from the Max Planck Institute takes a look at the history of German feelings. In addition, of course, the citizens themselves have their say and explain their relationship with politics.
