Alexander Ruckensteiner dreams of living in a traditional Lungau farmhouse. He is renovating the Karnergut, a 500-year-old farmstead. In order not to jeopardize the venerable building fabric in this risky project, he is proceeding with particular caution. He is trying to preserve as much of the original structure as possible. Master stove builder Friedl Haas and restorer Josef Voithofer support him in this, as they are familiar with rural building traditions. Expert Monika Brunner-Gaurek from the Salzburg Open-Air Museum describes the special features of the Lungau farms.
