When he walks past the cashier in the small grocery store where Camille – his summer crush – works, Max has an epiphany: he’s lost all interest in her. However, he doesn’t know how to tell her that without hurting her. He rehearses his speech. He needs to focus on himself, and not commit to anyone for a while. It is irrelevant that this is a strictly one-sided, imagined relationship, which has never borne any contact. The falling in and out of love are real. In an unconversation of common and uncommonplaces, Max shares these afflictions with his best friend Flo, equally inept in matters of the heart, who happens to be also living his own platonic relationship.
