An engaging and intelligent story that shows just how pointless and irrational the rules governing a closed group can be, and that it's always worth being open-minded to others. We learn that there is more to be gained by searching for the truth, no matter how inconvenient, and through tolerance than through senseless war that only brings about destruction.
Driven by their puffed-up sense of honor, a playground gang called the Mighty Pigeons is planning to take revenge and declare war on the “bloodthirsty” Dolores Cat, scourge of the neighborhood birds. The Pigeons blame Cat for the death of their leader, Janusz, even though there is no convincing proof of her guilt. Opposing this potentially devastating war is Przemek, a Sparrow trying to join the Pigeons' gang. As a Sparrow, a stranger among the Pigeons and a bird of much lower standing, he doesn't seem to have much of a chance. But he manages to win over the hostile Pigeons thanks to his wits and courage, and achieve an outcome that is to the benefit of all the characters.
