Brief synopsis
The "Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia" is considered Tito's utopia of a multi-ethnic state. After the dictator's death, however, the construct collapsed at breakneck speed. The horrors of the wars that led to Yugoslavia's disintegration are still present today. The "Balkans" are still not at peace; Blue Helmet soldiers are still deployed in Kosovo. What do we know about the history of the Republic of Yugoslavia and its disintegration? What were the triggers that suddenly brought friends and neighbours face to face as enemies? The three-part documentary series will take an in-depth look at the historical causes of the conflicts - right up to the Balkan wars and their consequences to this day.
