Brief synopsis

"Children of Huaqiangbei" offers insight into Shenzhen and its famous electronics market of Huaqiangbei through the narrative of a girl who witnessed the massive change of the city since the early 90s, as well as through the daily lives of its most recent children immigrants. The film is an impossible dialogue between the girl growing up in the 90s in Shenzhen (the director herself) and the two Li sisters who live on the 9th floor of the electronics market of Huaqiangbei in 2019. Through their innocent eyes, the audience sees a world of chaotic transactions, international businesses accomplished in a 10-square-meter shop, and the imaginary world hidden behind the unheard-of electronic products.
