GE8EN (Geachten – Caution) is the fragmented portrait of a Protestkultur between police and demonstrators. It examines the chaotic reality in the high pressure zone of power and counter-power over the week of the G8 Summit in Heiligendamm 2007. GE8EN accompanied the participants on their way onto the Blockades and into the next days events. Amateur footage of protesters; images from Drone surveillance cameras; pasted press releases: A „story“ is deliberately avoided. The filmmaker minimizes the organizing principle, keeping the chronology of the scenes authentic. Picture and sound are superimposed together, thus broadening the perspective. The viewer becomes witness, participant, voyeur, and combatant of the screen. Whomever is involved is thrown back and must reorient himself in a situation where subjectivity is revoked by the crowed and objectivity does not seem possible.
