Agathe Cléry is a true 21st century working girl. A brilliant marketing director for a special line of cosmetics for "pale skin," she is nevertheless barely appreciated by her colleagues, who find her harsh, haughty, and racist. The day she is told that she is suffering from Addison's disease, a rare illness which will cause her skin to become black, Agathe refuses to believe that such a malediction exists. However, one fine morning, she finds herself as black as all those people she has detested until now. So begins for Agathe a long journey of initiation during which she will undergo multiple betrayals and lose everything that was dearest to her. But all these humiliations will slowly bring about a transformation to the "harsh, haughty and racist" woman that she was and open the doors to a new life.
