About Florianfilm GmbH [de]
Florianfilm GmbH was founded on the 1st of May 2001 by the proprietors Marianne and André Schäfer. Over the past 13 years, Florianfilm’s editorial line has broadened to a diverse and international portfolio that transcends genres. Florianfilm is one of the leading non-fiction production companies in Germany and regularly produces documentaries for cinema and television, as well as documentary series and formats for national public broadcasters and many international broadcasters.
Over the past eight years Florianfilm has also regularly released cinema documentary features. Among them was “Lenin only got as far as Lüdenscheid” (nominated for the German Film Prize 2009 in the category “Best Documentary”), “The World According to Irving”, “Perry Rhodan – Cosmic Hero”, “Deutschboden” and „You’ll Never Walk Alone“.
Television audiences were especially keen on our documentary features about international stars like Doris Day, Rock Hudson, Margaret Rutherford and Katharine Hepburn. The historical documentaries “The Romanovs” and “Hitler’s Madonna”, which were broadcasted by ARTE, had the highest viewer numbers ever in their programming slot in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Many of our films were and are competing in international festivals such as the Berlinale, the Filmfest Munich, the Indie Fest in La Jolla, USA, the Barcelona International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, the FIFA, the New York Festivals, the Literavision in Munich amongst others.
