The German Film Academy announced the nominations for the German Film Awards 2024 on Tuesday, March 19. In the Best Feature Film category, the drama ELAHA (director: Milena Aboyan) is in the running for a "LOLA". Lead actress Bayan Layla is also nominated for Best Female Lead. ELAHA is a production of Kinescope Film and Essence Film, in co-production with the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and the broadcasters SWR and Arte.

Jury statement: Am I enough? Enough for whom? Who determines what is enough? Our society? My family? My friends? The question of the point at which one's own identity collides with upbringing, traditions and values is dealt with extensively in the film that we, the youth jury, have selected. An outstanding acting performance, impressive colors and an emotional rollercoaster ride captivated the packed auditorium for the entire duration of the film. The subject matter of the film in question is not only important, but also equally sensitive, and for us, GOTTESKINDER is a film that deserves much more coverage due to its multifaceted themes and the way in which they are presented.
