Georg Mikis Rees was born in november 1981 in the countryside in South Germany. At the age of 14 he began writing scripts and shooting own little films. With 16 he did a internship at the Bavaria Film Studios München. Although he loved making films, he turned towards psychology after he passed his civil service in a psychiatry. After this imprinting experience, Georg studied literature (2 semesters), philosophy (minor), and psychology (major) in Stuttgart (Germany), Fribourg & Bern (Switzerland) and Bergen (Norway) between 2002 and 2008. After finishing his master degree in psychology, he did his Ph.D. in the field of nonverbal communication and social interactions. In addition, he completed a training in psychotherapy and worked for a few years in psychosomatic hospitals and practices. But over time he missed creative work and telling own stories more and more. This brought him back to his passion for movies in 2017. From then on Georg made step by step a transition to directing. He collected experience as 1. AD, unit manager, set Manager, and as script supervisor on various film projects (short films, features, medium-length filmsseries). Moreover he restarted to create own short films and developed gradually his own signature as a director. Among his previous works STYX (2018) was nominated for the Camgaroo Award in Munich; IN THE GLASSHOUSE (2019), SEDUCED, and MALIKA (2021) were each selected for international festivals.
