In "Proll!" Jakob Reinhardt shows the reality of life of the individual protagonists in a few, but very essential images. The very authentic-looking lighting and the almost documentary-like camera in places give the film an atmospheric, increasingly oppressive look. The reduced resolution demands trust in the images, which is wonderfully unobtrusively redeemed. A camera work that impresses above all also through precisely framed shots and subtly leads the viewer to the characters, in intense close-ups, but also in observing distance, in order to form one's own picture.
