Philosophy
It is the basic idea and aim of crew united to improve the quality
of co-operation and information of all those involved in the film
and television industry.

The idea for crew united came up in 1996. Since 1997, crew-united
exists at the address www.crew-united.com.
Crew-united GbR was founded in the spring of 2001.
Company
History
From personal experience that film and television freelancers in search
of jobs depended almost solely on personal recommendations, and having
gotten acquainted with the then still new medium internet, the business
idea for crew united came up in 1996. The basic idea was to create
an internet platform that made it possible for freelancers to portray
their capabilities and qualifications, thereby possibly drawing the
attention of potential employers. Thus, the freelance-guide was born
- one of the heart pieces of crew-united to this day.
With the fusion of Vincent Lutz and Oliver Zenglein in the spring
of 1997, the early makeshift program grew into a professional internet
website. Although in the beginning, personal internet access was still
quite rare (barely 4 million Germans had their own internet connection),
we passed the mark of 2.000 enrolled freelancers and registered more
than 50.000 queries per month without any kind of advertising or PR.
At the same time as crew united GbR was founded in January 2001, a
complete relaunch including improved graphics, functionality and numerous
added offers went online. At this stage the trade-guide, a kind of
yellow pages for companies, was brought into life. That was the cornerstone
of an all-embracing platform for all involved in the professional
film and television trade.
In the fall of 2001, there had been over 150.000 monthly queries and
the 3.000th freelancer had enrolled. One thing was for sure: crew
united had to be brought to a professional level. The first step was
to develop a professional and modern data base system that had to
stay simple and concise, and had to fulfill the expectations for a
modern internet platform for the professional film and television
business. This also implies the future expansion of our service into
the field of actors and actresses.
After introducing the new crew united a yearly fee will be charged
for an entry including all functions. A limited standard entry and
the general use of the site will remain free of charge. |
